Cover: 1st draft

In this post, I am going to go over the options that I had came up with and given to my classmates for the first time. I feel like I could've done more, and I was definitely missing some key aspects on the cover. Here are my covers:

When I initially made these cover drafts, I liked the one on the right better, this was only however, because it was an action shot, which was what I wanted for my cover. However, as I presented in class and received feedback, I got some shocking results. Many people liked the masthead on the left better then the one on the right, this was a complete shock to me, since that masthead was only an experiment. On the other hand, the colors for the cover lines on the draft on the right had gotten better praised. The main reason being because they were more readable. Me teacher had actually also recommended the masthead on the left, as well as, to get rid of the yellow box in the bottom and just put the date next to the barcode. I have done this now and it looks so much better. Personally, I saw that on another football magazine, so I wanted to take inspiration. I also really liked how it looked because it could be used to cut out the character in the case there was something in the picture that I did not like.

Overall, since I had not fully finished the cover, I could not get full feedback, but from the ones that I did receive, I feel better prepared to make a better second draft. This was a fun experience for me and I am excited to do the second draft.
