As we move further into the year we start going more in depth on the contents of a magazine. For this post, I will be talking about the Table of Contents. The Table of Contents shows where something is and how long it spreads. This was my attempt:

TABLE OF CONTENTS #1

Number of images

There isn't really images, just a background with colorful designs.

Description of Each image

If you were to count the background as an image, you could see a basketball player mid action. This is a high angle of the player and the basketball board. On the other side of the page, you could see shadow-like figures, which contrasts against the person, making him the center of attention.

List of Sections

There is 9 articles, the names being the following:

  • "It Was 40 Years Ago Today" Pg. 1-4

  • "Indelible Images" Pg. 5-10

  • "The Greatest of All Time" Pg. 11-20

  • "The Kids Out of Carolina" Pg. 21-30

  • "On Top of The World" Pg. 31-48

  • "Its Gotta be The Shoes" Pg. 49-56

The font format used in this magazine is Sans Serif.

Color Palette of fonts

The Color palette of the fonts was white.

Stylistic Features

Colorful background(purple), an image of Michael Jordan dunking, and shadows. This magazine is fairly simple.

Title of page

Usually Table of Contents or just Contents is used, in this case, all you can see is Contents.

Number of Columns per page

Usually only 2-3 columns, with a picture on the right hand side. Each column has 2-3 rows of information.

Overall, this magazine is fairly simple but it gets the job done. There is hints of creativity and colors, but compared to other sports magazine which integrate pictures of events and add cutouts of players, this magazine is very simple.

TABLE OF CONTENTS #2

Number of images

There is 4 pictures, there rest at the bottom are more like advertisement for this merchandise.

Description of Each image

All of these pictures have at least 1 basketball player, the only exception being the one on the left. Highlights one of the topics because the cutout next to it is who is being talked about, many different colors, different letter sizes and colors.

Title of page

This magazines only mentions "Contents"

Number of Columns per page

There is usually 1 column per page as the pages are full of pictures.

Overall, I really liked this magazine, it is not simple or too complicated, it has just enough creative components to make it look good, but it still makes sure the access to the actual table of contents is easy.

CONCLUSION

Before this assignment, I knew how a table of contents looked like, and what I wanted to do. But after I did this assignment, I got a whole new idea for what to do. For example, I never thought about adding cutouts of people or adding pictures how it was done in the second magazine. This assignment was pretty easy for me, and it made me feel even more confident with the Table of content.
