As we reach into the 3rd quarter, our preparations for our final magazine are starting. To start off, we had to choose our magazine genre. out of all the ones we practiced in class, I will be sticking with sports. So for this blog post, I will be explaining why I decided to pick sports as my genre:

First of all, after we did our two PICKED genres, our teacher wanted us to gain more experience with taking pictures, so she decided to give us a genre that we had to photograph every week and then present. This eventually led to me deciding sports as my magazine genre. This decision first started when we did architecture. This was the first assignment we got to gain experience with taking photos and I was really excited to do this because, even thought it wasn't apart of my picked genres, I had thought about doing it and it was something I was interested in as you can see below my pictures for architecture were not bad, but the idea of going around and taking pictures of buildings doesn't really intrigue me. Another genre that we had to do was Art. I really hated this genre because I personally found it boring.

As you could see I tried using different angles to "spice" up the pictures but they still seemed bland / simple. I feel like this is due to the fact that I don't really have artsy items around my house, but the genre just felt boring in general for me. Finally, we then had to do sports. When I heard that sports was the genre we were going to do next, I was really excited because it was, not only one of my main picks, the genre that had interested me the most. Before I finished the assignment, I wasn't 100% on what i would pick, since I was torn between sports and food. However, when I finished this sports assignment, I looked at the pictures and realized I was 100% on sports.
Why i picked sports:

Before we had even started to take pictures of any genre, the moment our teacher told us we had to choose a genre, my mind instantly went to sports. This is because I felt that sports would have been the easiest to take pictures of, due to the amount of friends that did sports and props related to sports that I had available to me. I also knew that it was the best genre for me to choose because it was one of the only ones in which I really was interested in and knew would have fun in. another reason is that I was encouraged by some classmates to pick sports because of how my pictures looked compared to other photos in other genres, which gave me the confidence to finalize on sports. I know I won't regret picking sports because I certainly had a positive growth on how I captured the pictures. As you can see below I had developed more creative skills

From the first time that I took these pictures and then the most recent ones. For the second picture I utilized a background while also increasing the quality in my pictures and the use of natural sunlight. In the first picture, I had to edit the picture to make it look like that. The second picture had little to no editing, it is shown how it was seen when it was first taken. If this was the progress I made in 2-3 months, by the time I have to take the official pictures for my magazine I am confident they will be better and more creative, which also adds on to why I picked sports. In the end, I am happy with my decision and are excited to continue this year and eventually complete my final project.
