As we move further along the year, we slowly start to dig deeper into our magazine and the aspect that make it up. For this assignment, we had to look for 4 magazines, 2 for each of our 2 chosen genres, and take the cover, table of contents, and 1 of the articles, and add them to the blog post. For this specific blog post, we only have to add the covers and compare them to each other. Here is my attempt:
First genre:

For my first genre, I decided to do sports. As you can see above, both magazine covers have athletes as the Main Image with the Masthead surrounding them. In the "Life" magazine, you can see on the cover the athlete, Michael Jordan, in mid air, this makes it seem as if the magazine is about him and his achievements. As you further inspect the magazine, you can see the Coverline "The greatest of all time" and the Anchorage text "We've never seen anyone like him." Both, not only, give a hint on the contents inside this magazine, but also giving support the image by giving an idea of who the athlete in the image is and what he does / did. On the second cover, the Main image, unlike the first one, you can see 3 athletes all from different teams doing different actions, giving the idea that this is going to be a more diverse magazine with contents of more variety. This idea is further developed with the Masthead, as it is "The NBA book" and since the NBA is what the league is called, an assumption that this magazine will talk about multiple events including multiple teams makes sense. Furthermore, The Skyline states "2024-25 season breakdown inside" this clearly stating the contents of the magazine while also hooking in any readers. Both magazines use aspects like the Masthead and Main image to grab a readers attention, while the 2nd uses a Skyline and the 1st uses a Coverline and Anchorage text. Both pictures also include a Barcode as they were found in a Publix.
Second Genre:

For my second Genre, I decided to pick the car genre. These magazines that are made for this genre (like the ones above), are mainly made to introduce a car brand, give more specific information about a car, compare cars and their pros and cons, and much more. In both covers, you can see many aspects that make it up. For example, on the 2nd cover, the puff states "362 unbiased reviews" giving us, the readers, a helpful guide to some of the best types of cars with reviews as evidence. The Anchorage states "SUVs, Trucks, Vans, Cars, Sedans" this helps explain the contents inside, as it gives an overall idea that these will be the cars talked about. You can also add the Mast head "New car guide" as a way to make an accurate guess about the contents of the magazine since it is a direct statement. Finally, The Coverline "Buying advice, Essential gear" is in a yellow coloring, which contrasts the blue behind it, adding a sense of bold and importance to its text. furthermore, on the 1st cover, you can also find Anchorage text such as "Trucks with the best MPG" and "Top-Rated tires from our tests" to help develop an idea over the magazine and inform the readers beforehand. The Mast head "Best & worst cars, trucks, and suvs" just like the one in the 2nd cover, showing, not only, the contents inside, but also the specifics of the articles, as it helps shows how they are going to talk about trucks and SUVs . The Main image in both features a truck, limiting what may be talked about, many articles do this to attract certain peoples attention, since it is what they are looking for. Finally both pictures of the covers can be seen with a barcode since they were both found at a Publix. These covers each have their independent articles inside, but can both be given an idea using these aspects, causing the covers to be more similar than what some people may think.
